about Angie
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom”
~ Anaïs Nin
Our lives are filled with adventures designed to challenge personal growth and development. As we navigate through the ups and downs of the human experience, we may find ourselves needing a helping hand now and again. Challenging our old narratives or patterns and opening ourselves up to a broader range of possibilities empowers us toward tangible, positive change.
Hi, my name is Angie, and I’m happy you’re here. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with experience working with adolescents and adults in navigating their healing journey. My passion for helping individuals, couples, and families stems from a life-long interest in the journey rather than the destination, and a deep passion for understanding and healing emotional wounds.
I work with various presenting problems, including:
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship Issues/ Interpersonal Communication
Suicidality
Domestic Violence
Sexual Assault
Mood Disorders
Grief
With a B.S. in Biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, I have been offered the experience of understanding the importance of the mind and body connection in terms of research and development. My masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University presented the opportunity to further understand the importance of integrating a healthy mindset into our daily relationships.
My professional journey has led me to specialize in trauma-informed care, employing a network of integrated modalities to treat individuals, couples, and families. Whether you are seeking support as an individual looking to grow, a couple looking to connect, or a family navigating complex dynamics, I am here to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore.
My toolbox includes a range of evidence-based models such as:
TF-CBT: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
DBT: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
EFT: Emotionally Focused Therapy
IFS: Internal Family Systems
AEDP: Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy
In my work with individuals, I bring a deep sense of empathy and compassion to my clients, understanding that the healing journey is unique for each person. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals can explore, heal, and grow. In my work with couples and families, I integrate my knowledge of individual care into the broader context of relationships. I believe in fostering collaborative environments with couples and families, working together to navigate challenges and build stronger, more resilient connections. My goal is to create a space where open communication and understanding thrive. Drawing from a strengths-based perspective, I explore the intricate dynamics within families, recognizing the profound impact of trauma on the entire system. Together, we work towards healing and fostering resilience in the face of adversity.
In addition, am EMDRIA-trained. I provide EMDR Therapy (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) to survivors of abuse, assault, and other traumas. I focus on utilizing the mind-body relationship to facilitate experiential connections and shared moments of corrective experiences. I see the value in viewing individuals in terms of their strengths, and will walk alongside you as you gain the valuable insight and necessary skills to meet your needs and overcome your challenges.

"Angie and Deema were incredible, and are the reason I now have a belief in therapy. We made truly unbelievable progress in a very short period of time, and I owe some major improvements in my life to their capabilities and care, and the work we did together. Can't recommend either of them enough."

"I'm posting my first Yelp review in several years to share about my great experience working with Angie. She's been my therapist since May. The hormonal shifts that happen in middle age have a way of resurfacing past trauma. Without going into too much detail, I was struggling. I've learned so much about myself during therapy (something that didn't happen when I saw two other therapists a few years ago for other issues). Angie introduced me to EMDR and was also supportive of my choices regarding medication and lifestyle changes. She also introduced me to several tools and coping skills including apps, journaling, etc. Angie challenges me (which I told her I needed from a therapist) and she is also encouraging and supportive. She's professional, knowledgeable, smart, and kind. The office staff is super quick to email me a super bill when I need it so I can submit it to my insurance for partial reimbursement. This is important for me because otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford therapy at this great practice. As hard as doing this work can be sometimes (I am looking at you EMDR!), I look forward to my continued growth by working with a great therapist like Angie."
